Good day to you all, we hope you are having fun on the AtoZChallenge. Today at Wittegen Press, Natasha Duncan-Drake will be talking about her book “Chip Off the Old Block?”.

Side note: we have just enabled Jetpack comments to allow people to use their Facebook, G+ or Twitter accounts to comment if they wish, but there is still the old option of name, email and url as well. We hope this will make commenting easier, but ff you have any problems, please let us know via our contact form so we can fix it for you. Many thanks.

So if you have been reading our posts you may have seen us mention Penny Dreadfuls 21 – our imprint where we created commissioned short stories until we chose to shut it down.

Well, when we launched Penny Dreadfuls 21 we wanted to do something to gets lots of people interested and, also to help others. This is where philanthropy came in. Instead of charging people for custom short stories and pocketing the money, we asked them to donate to charity and send us a receipt. When the exclusivity period was up the books were then published as free titles everywhere we could do that.

This is how Chip Off the Old Block? came about. I wrote it as a charitable commissions. It’s about 7.5K words long and I was asked for a funny paranormal story with a male/male pairing, so I came up Owen – the Antichrist, who really isn’t suited to his role just yet. He gets on with his dad (yes the one with horns) okay, but his best friend is the son of the school chaplain, so he’s not totally with the program.

I very much hope the story had made people smile over the time it has been published.

Writers, have you ever sold a book for charity? Readers, do you enjoy giving by purchasing something an author has created for a good cause?

Chip Off The Old Block? by Tasha D-DrakeChip Off the Old Block by Natasha Duncan-Drake

This is a permanently FREE title on all sites except Amazon (for some reason they have never price matched it), so just go to the main book listing and pick any of the other sites.

The Anti-Christ is coming!

His name is Owen.

Well technically it’s Beherit, but that’s so last millennium. Aspiring to world domination is just around the corner and his simple life of school is coming to an end … which is kind of the problem. His best friend David, the local vicar’s son, will no longer be there and that makes Owen feel things he doesn’t understand. What else is a boy to do, but ask his dad what it all means, even if that dad has horns and his eye on the corruption of humankind?

Find out if the Devil’s plans are going to be blown apart by un-demon like love in this FREE romantic comedy short story.

  1. This is the weekend before the last full week of A to Z. You’re amazing for staying with us this long. Thanks for your commitment. You’re almost there. This event only happens once a year, so get ready for the home stretch!

  2. I wanted to donate a portion of the proceeds of one of my books to the Bowery Mission in Manhattan, since some of the scenes in Parts I and II take place there, and I really admire all the outreach work they’ve done since the 19th century. Unfortunately, I’ve only sold a few copies of that book since its release last June, so there’s no point in doing that. Maybe someday I’ll break even, after I make back the costs of having my hand-drawn cover scanned into digital format, the costs of the art supplies I used, and the $200 I paid to quote two George Harrison songs.

    1. I wish you luck in the book selling department 🙂 It’s always nice to be able to give back, but covering costs is also important.
